2027 Extra Paycheck Months: All 14 Biweekly Schedules
Paid every other Friday? A January 1 cycle gets three paychecks in January, July and December; a January 8 cycle gets them in April and October. Check all 14 biweekly schedules below.
Quick answer for common Friday pay schedules
If your first scheduled payday is January 1, 2027, your three-paycheck months are January, July and December. If the first is January 8, 2027, they are April and October.
These are scheduled pay dates. A holiday or an employer’s early-pay policy can move the deposit into the prior business day, so check your payroll calendar before treating a date as final. To count the checks still ahead from any recent payday, use the paychecks-left counter.
If you are paid every two weeks, you are paid 26 times a year. A year has 12 months, and 12 × 2 is 24. The two paydays left over have to go somewhere, and where they go is decided by one thing: the date your cycle happens to be anchored on.
Your months therefore depend on when the cycle starts. A biweekly cycle repeats every fourteen days, so there are fourteen possible calendar patterns — find your first scheduled 2027 payday below and use that row.

Why one schedule gets 27 paychecks in 2027
A year is 52 weeks plus one day, so a biweekly cycle anchored right at the start of January catches an extra payday before December runs out. Anyone whose first 2027 payday is January 1 gets 27 that year and three three-paycheck months rather than two. It is a property of where the cycle sits, not of the year itself — the same anchor produces 26 in most other years.
Twice a month is not the same thing
Semi-monthly pay — the 15th and the last day, or similar — is 24 paydays, two in every month, always. There is no extra one, and there never will be. If your pay dates land on the same numbers each month rather than the same weekday, none of this applies to you.
A third paycheck is not automatically spare money
This is the part that decides whether a third paycheck is a windfall or just an ordinary paycheck that happens to arrive in a busy month. If you budget by calendar month, rent came out of the month, not out of a specific paycheck, and the third one is already spoken for by whatever the month still owes.
Funding regular bills from every paycheck can make monthly cash flow more even, but it does not guarantee that the third paycheck is available to spend. Irregular expenses, debt, and other obligations may still apply, so check the full plan before assigning any remainder.

How these dates were produced
Every date in the table is computed from the pay cycle at build time, not typed in, and the arithmetic behind it is covered by unit tests — including the leap-year and month-boundary cases where naive date maths quietly slips a payday into the wrong month. Dates are calculated in UTC so the answer does not change with the reader’s timezone.
All amounts are computed in integer cents and rounded up when splitting a bill across paychecks, so a plan never funds a bill short. Pay-period counts follow the calendar: 52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semi-monthly, 12 monthly. Written by Larder, makers of an envelope budgeting app for iPhone. Last reviewed .
