How many paychecks are left in 2026?

Tell it the last day you were paid and how often it happens. It counts what is still coming this year — and flags the months that hold one more than they should.

Last payday

Any recent one. The cycle is worked out from it.

How often

Twice a month is not the same as every two weeks.

What people actually mean by this

How many paychecks are left in 2026?
It depends on the day and on how you are paid, which is why a fixed number is always wrong for most people. Paid every two weeks there are 26 in the year, so the answer falls by one roughly every fortnight; weekly is 52 and twice a month is exactly 24. The counter above works it out from the last payday you were actually paid.
Why does a payroll calendar give a different answer?
A payroll calendar prints one employer's pay dates for the year. It is right about the dates and says nothing about how many are still ahead of you, which is the part that changes every two weeks. The two are answering different questions.
Is being paid twice a month the same as every two weeks?
No, and the gap is two paychecks a year. Twice a month is 24 on fixed dates. Every two weeks is 26 on a cycle that drifts against the calendar, which is why a biweekly year holds two months with three paydays and a semi-monthly year never does.
What is the extra paycheck for?
Nothing automatic — that is the point of it. If every monthly bill is funded a share at a time out of all 26 paychecks rather than out of two a month, then the third one in a three-payday month arrives with nothing already claiming it. Budget by the month and it just looks like a good month.
Does the count include today's payday?
Yes. A payday landing on the day you ask has not been spent yet, so it counts as still to come.

All amounts are computed in integer cents and rounded up when splitting a bill across paychecks, so a plan never funds a bill short. Pay-period counts follow the calendar: 52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semi-monthly, 12 monthly. Built by Larder, makers of an envelope budgeting app for iPhone. Last reviewed .
